Ubitus Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Maizuru AI Data Center, Marking the Start of the Construction Phase

Ubitus held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Maizuru AI Data Center in Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, at 10:00 a.m. on September 4, 2026. Following the completion of the land agreement with Maizuru City in January, the ceremony marked another key milestone for the project, signaling its transition from the planning stage into full-scale construction. Representatives from Ubitus and Maizuru City, along with project and construction personnel, attended the ceremony to witness the official start of construction.

The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted in accordance with traditional Shinto rites, including purification, the offering of prayers, the ground-breaking ritual, and the offering of tamagushi branches. The ceremony was held to pray for the smooth progress of construction, site safety, and the safe and successful operation of the facility in the future. It also represents another step forward in Ubitus’ long-term commitment to strengthening its AI infrastructure presence in Maizuru and across Japan.

The Maizuru AI Data Center will occupy a site of approximately 2.3 hectares and will be developed in phases. It will deploy NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and leverage Ubitus’ NeoCloud architecture to build a highly scalable and resilient AI computing infrastructure. Once operational, the facility will support high-performance computing workloads such as generative AI, large language model training, and inference, further strengthening domestic AI computing capacity in Japan and accelerating the adoption of AI across industries and regional applications.
